About God

  • The existence of God is self-evident because the entire creation declares his power and glory (Ps 19:1; Rom 1:20)
  • God created the visible and invisible universe (Gen 1:1)
  • God exists as three persons who share one essence (Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14)
  • God is infinite. He is unbounded by time or space (Rev 1:8)
  • God is good (Ps 100:5)
  • God is sovereign over his creation (Ps 47:8)
  • God is loving (1 Jn 4:8)
  • God is just (Ps 11:7; Ps 129:4)

About Mankind

  • We are created by God (Ps 139:13)
  • We are created in God’s image (Gen 1:26)
  • All life is sacred (Job 12:10)
  • Life begins at conception (Ps 51:6)
  • Everyone sins (Rom 3:23)

About Sin

  • Sin is lawlessness (1 Jn 3:4)
  • The existence of sin necessitates the existence of an absolute standard of morality (Rom 7:7)
  • The existence of sin necessitates an absolute sovereign Lawgiver (Isa 33:22; Jas 4:12)
  • We are created with an innate knowledge of God’s law (Rom 1:18-21, 32; 2:14-15)
  • The existence of sin necessitates the existence of free will (1 Cor 10:13)
  • The existence of sin necessitates the need for a Savior (Acts 4:12)
  • Death is the inevitable result of sin (Rom 6:23)

About Jesus

  • Jesus is God (Col 2:9)
  • Jesus created the visible and invisible universe (1 Jn 1:1)
  • Jesus was a man (Jn 1:14)
  • Jesus died on the cross (Jn 19:30)
  • Jesus’ death was the atonement for our sins (Heb 2:17)
  • Jesus’ death paid the penalty for our sins (Eph 1:7; Col 1:14)
  • Jesus’ death frees us from the power of sin (Rom 8:2)
  • Jesus resurrected from the grave (Matt 28:6; 1 Cor 15:4)
  • His resurrection inaugurated his kingdom (Acts 2:32-33)
  • His resurrection proved he was God (1 Cor 15:13-14)

About Salvation

  • Salvation only comes through faith in Jesus Christ (Jn 3:16)
  • Salvation is available to everyone (Tit 2:11)
  • Faith requires both an intellectual assent and a reliant trust (Jas 2:26)
  • Intellectual assent is agreeing that the claims about Jesus are true (Jn 6:47)
  • Reliant trust is living as though you agree that the claims about Jesus are true (Jas 2:14)
  • Reliant trust requires repentance (Acts 2:38)
  • Reliant trust requires verbal confession (Rom 10:9-10)
  • Reliant trust requires baptism (1 Pt 3:21)
  • Reliant trust requires peseverance in the faith (Heb 12:14)

About Baptism

  • Baptism is essential for salvation and the point in time when a person is saved (Acts 2:38)
  • Baptism now saves (1 Pt 3:21)
  • Baptism is by full immersion (Rom 6:4)
  • Baptism is for adults who have the mental capacity to consciously put their faith in Christ (Jn 1:12-13)
  • Water baptism and Spirit baptism are one and the same event (Eph 4:5)

About the Holy Spirit

  • The Holy Spirit is God (1 Cor 12:4-6)
  • Christians receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in baptism (Acts 2:38)
  • The Holy Spirit inspired the authors of the Bible (1 Cor 2:13; 2 Pt 1:21)
  • The Holy Spirit convicts the hearts of sinners to repent and turn to God before conversion (Jn 16:8)
  • The Holy Spirit regenerates the sinner into a new creation during conversion in the baptism event (Tit 3:5)
  • The Holy Spirit sanctifies believers after conversion (Rom 8:13; Gal 5:22-23)
  • The Holy Spirit gives believers gifts in orderĀ  to help sinners to repent and turn to God and to help other believers mature in their faith (Eph 4:12-13; Col 4:4-6)
